Extension The new roof is insulated with 100mm of expanded foam insulation, covered by a turf roof on which the battle rages between the grass, the moss, and the dandelions. Fresh air is warmed in the sun porch before entering the extension through a small adjustable vent. Warm air is also brought down from the mezzanine by fan. Vents high in the wall supply warm air to the rear bedroom (not illustrated) and office. In the corner, Glorious the goldfish rules the eco-fish tank, alongside Annies collection of plates scoured from car boot sales. Next to the kitchen is the DIY free cook for energy-free stews and casseroles. The lighting is low energy bulbs. The central light fitting is salvaged from an old department store. The floor is concrete, covered by expanded foam insulation, screed and cork tiles. Environmental paint is used throughout. |
